This is an intensive four-week summer course, students will learn how to design and make, from scratch, a pair of handmade sneakers and, at the same time, how to deconstruct, regenerate and customize an existing one.
The themes and keywords of this course are: makers, customization, sustainability, recycling, and reuse. Instructors will encourage students to find innovative solutions to create, upcycle and repair existing branded sneakers.
Within the program, students will be exposed to the manufacturing methods of two Italian leather and textile districts that specialize in circular economy: Prato (regenerated textile) and Santa Croce sull’Arno (for vegetable-tanned leather)
The last module is fully dedicated to learn and practice how to deconstruct sneakers and then create a whole new customized pair.
The next session will take place in July 2021 (5th-30th)
